Today, July 1, 2015, Gross Receipts Tax increases in Bernalillo County by 3/16 of one cent. The GRT is commonly called a sales tax. Inside the city limits of Albuquerque the tax rate is going up from 7% to 7.1875%.
And outside the city limits in unincorporated areas the tax rate goes from 6.0625% to 6.25%. And in the Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque the tax rate is now 7.2500%. And inside the Village of Tijeras, the rate is now 7.6250%. Please adjust your cash register software to use the new higher tax rate, if you operate a business. And please note that Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority rates increase today as well so please expect a larger water utility bill each month starting in August 2015.

SANTA FE – Self-employed workers, contractors and business owners are coming under increasing scrutiny from the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department, which has been ramping up its efforts in recent years to collect delinquent gross receipts taxes.
